Overview

The Immunomediated Diseases and Innovative Therapies is an heterogeneous area composed by both translational and clinical research groups which cover fields such as immunology, respiratory and systemic diseases, pharmacology, molecular diagnosis, heart repair, reumatology and advanced therapies. Its main strength derives precisely from this heterogeneity and the complementarity of the scientific interests and expertise of the different groups, many of which are currently joining efforts and synergizing in a variety of collaborative research projects.

The group has maintained its commitment to the promotion of research achieving a remarkable success on competitive calls such as “RETOS”, where four different projects in collaboration with a number of Catalan research institutions have been funded. All these projects mobilize up to 1.9M€ in four years.

It has been of special relevance the finalization of 3 clinical trials, based on Advanced Therapies Medicinal Products, sponsored by Banc de Sang i Teixits and carried on the Hospital Vall d’Hebron Campus.

The reorganization of the “cellular” laboratory has optimized its support to research and during 2019 a new impulse will be given to the laboratory core of genomics. In addition we have integrated the biobank within the research structure. All three core facilities are offered to the VHIR community.

Globally, the scientific production has shown a positive evolution with 30 publications (44% 1st Quartile) and an IF: 111. Two young investigators have again achieved the doctoral degree.
