Group Leader: Joan Minguell Monyart

Our group has 5 lines of research: traumatic, bone septic disease, knee, hip and hand pathology. The last one, is the newest consolidated line and we expect to incorporate the shoulder pathology line soon.

During 2018 our group has been working in different projects and collaborations in the different lines, having seven doctoral thesis in project. We have consolidated collaborations with other VHIR research groups and institutions such as Sant Rafael Hospital and Canadian Institutes of Health Research and OTA (Orthopedic Trauma Association), of which we have obtained external funding.

We highlight our evolution in the Hip Attack trial during this year including 77 patients, the highest number compared to previous years. In total we have included 247 patients by now and we expect to reach the international objective in 2019.

This year we also have celebrated the 2nd Edition of Evidence-based medicine course, extending and diversifying the content in basic and advanced, by the direction of Mohit Bhandari.
