Thirteen groups are currently part of this area, working closely with top clinicians at the hospital. The area encompasses different aspects related to neuroscience, such as neural development, neurodegeneration, neuroimmunology, neurological pain, mental health, neurosurgery, pediatric neurology or neuroimaging

There are groups also focused on cell signaling and apoptosis and translational bioinformatics.

Group Leader: Josep Gámez

In 2019, our group has focused its efforts on two areas: 1) the search for genetic susceptibility factors and phenotype modifiers in familial and sporadic forms of autoimmune myasthenia gravis using mass next-generation sequencing techniques, and 2) on the viability of gene therapy TTR-related familial amyloidosis. The latter is an example of our commitment to Translational Medicine (bench-to-bedside).
