Group Leader: Coro Bescós Atin

The group has successfully achieved the goal of reorienting its research priorities, which are now gathered around the three pillars in oral and maxillofacial pathology established by the group: new technologies, regenerative medicine and molecular biology of cancer.

Given that La Marató de TV3 was devoted to cancer in 2018, we have decided to partner with VHIO in order to submit a VHIR-VHIO joint project to La Fundació La Marató de TV3 in 2019, in order to request funds to pursue our research on the effect of dietary palmitic acid on metastasis development in patients suffering from a head and neck carcinoma. Besides, we are strengthening our cancer research area.

Our group will play a major role in the development of the EU-Funded project “Custom-made solutions in facial reconstruction and their impact on quality-of-life (CAD-CAM)”. The project ranked among the top projects in a highly competitive call, and substantial funding has been awarded for the research, development and clinical introduction of custom-made surgical solutions for our patients.
