Group Leader: Eva Baldrich Rubio

Our team was accepted in 2018 as a Consolidated Group by AGAUR. We incorporated in 2018 a new member, Kevin Arias, from Costa Rica, who obtained a prestigious INPhINIT predoctoral fellowship founded by La Caixa, which will support his research in the development of point-of-care diagnostic devices. Ana Sánchez Cano has been also granted an i-PFIS fellowship by Carlos III Institute. Over her PhD, she will produce a synthetic reagent to replace erythrocytes in the haemagglutination assays used worldwide to track the annual flu epidemics, a work she will carry out in collaboration with the company Pragmatic Diagnostics. The DTS17/00145 project has begun, in which we collaborate with the Microbiology Service and the Infectious Diseases Group to develop a Point-of-care diagnostic device for the fast and simple detection of malaria. The results produced allowed the group to publish in 2018 four articles in D1 journals, all of them with members of the team signing as the first author.
